One more thought on weakness and confusion

For those who are following the discussion of my most recent acid base question:

I believe that the patient actually has two primary conditions – an increased anion gap acidosis and a respiratory alkalosis.  As I understand salicylate toxicity, this is the classic acid-base presentation.  I do not believe that the anion gap acidosis is compensatory.
